Genuine Swiss made, sold and packaged in pairs.
Tersa knives are high quality products manufactured in Switzerland. Tersa Blades are suitable for Tersa systems in jointers, planers, thicknessers, automatic molders, etc.
The Tersa Planer Knives are two sided and are used on each side before they are recycled. They are ultra-light and don't need sharpening. You simply use one side of the blades until they dull, flip the blades around, use the other side until dull, and recycle the blades after. Because of their unique design Tersa Knives can be removed and replaced in seconds. Used with the Tersa Planer Head, knives are clamped by centrifugal force and gibb wedges, leaving no screws to deal with. A consistent cutter head diameter and knife height also eliminates the need for height adjustment on your blades.
ORIGINAL SWISS QUALITY
Nowadays, there is a significant amount of counterfeit blades appearing in the market. We guarantee the Tersa grinding quality and a long life span. With original TERSA blades, we ensure the perfect operating of the whole Tersa tool. If it is from Switzerland then you are assured of an excellent and original quality.
UNIQUE HARDENING PROCESS
Tersa is focused on hardening and sharpening the blades well. Both actions are essential to make really good planing and chisel blades. So we developed a special hardening process for our Tersa blades that other companies cannot replicate with the same tool quality and strength.
MATERIAL TYPES
CHROME
Chrome Steel is the least costly Tersa knife. Chrome knives have a very sharp cutting edge with a 50° relief angle. Chrome knives can be used for the same wood materials as HSS knives, however, chrome steel knives will wear faster. Therefore chrome knives are recommended for soft woods only, such as Balsa, Poplar, Nordic Pine, etc.
HSS
High Speed Steel (HSS) knives are the best knives for all round purposes. The knives have a very sharp cutting edge with a 50° relief angle. HSS knives are more durable than chrome knives and make a better finish than solid carbide knives. HSS is recommended for wood materials like Pine, Oak, Maple, Cherry, etc.
M42
M42 (HSS) knives are the best knives for tough applications where the regular HSS knives are not sufficient. The M42 knives have a cutting edge geometry similar to carbide and are less likely to chip the cutting edge than regular HSS knives. M42 knives are more durable than HSS knives and make a better finish than solid carbide knives. M42 is recommended for wood materials like Pine, Oak, Maple, Cherry, etc.
Solid Carbide
Solid Carbide knives are the most durable. Solid carbide knives do not have the same sharp edge as chrome steel and HSS knives and since solid carbide is more brittle, the relief angle is reduced to 35°. However, the hardness and wear resistance makes the carbide knife perfect for machining hard woods such as Teak, Hickory, etc. Carbide knives are also used for laminated woods with weather resistant glue and woods that are covered with sand and dirt.
